It's NOT going to Rain...
I promise, every precaution was taken. We didn’t say the R-A-I-N word, and we kept checking the weather apps. Every half hour.
The ceremony would be moved under cover if we needed to, but the weather apps clearly said we wouldn’t need to do that. Maybe we should have sang the “_____, _____, go away” song.
An overcast sky actually makes for some very flattering soft light. The new spring grass, leaves, and flowers looked fresh and perfectly green. Our bride Julie had picked some stunning dresses and a lovely color palette for the late May wedding.
As the day rolled on, the funny theme of this day turned out to be that whenever Julie was about to step foot outside, droplets began to fall from the sky.
When it was time for the first look it immediately began raining. So we moved from plan A to plan B, rearranging the living room furniture to make a space for the bride and groom’s first look.
The beauty of the moment wasn’t lost. It was wonderful to see the groom Cam’s reaction to his lovely bride. And there were a few bonus witnesses to this moment.
Next up, Julie’s Grandmother stopped in for her turn for a first look with Julie. It was so sweet, and just like Grandma said, she stole the show.
Off to the Venue..
We all went off to the ceremony and reception venue, Morgan Hill Event Center in Hermon, Maine. Every one was ready to go, and on cue, once Julie started her entrance...the rain made its appearance.
But here's the real truth,
as nice as perfect weather is on a wedding day
perfect weather doesn’t make a perfect wedding.
The right people do.
The owners of the living room who moved all their furniture out of the way for the first look
are the right people.
Their family and friends are the right people.
Cam and Julie are the right people.
